Case Study: Ending Chemical Hose Failure at a Large Chemical Processing Plant

Need: A large chemical processing plant was experiencing repeated kinking and failure of conventional chemical transfer hoses due to their various close quarter’s applications requiring extremely tight turns. This problem application involved aggressive chemicals, significant pressures, and very challenging hose routing.

Solution: After talking with several engineers, safety managers, and first hand users to understand how the existing hose was used, and the versatility required at their chemical manufacturing facility, our hose fab shop designed a hose assembly using our Peraflex Composite Hose with specialized fittings. A special configuration was designed utilizing a PTFE liner and stainless wire.

Result: The Peraflex composite hose provided the bend radius necessary to accommodate the customers tight routing challenges as well as improved chemical resistance and working pressure performance. This composite hose solution increased the users typical hose life span by 150%.
